Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about sessions, pricing, ASCA insurance reimbursement, and what to expect — for both first-time visitors and people considering ongoing care.

Is this covered by my insurance?

My services are recognized by ASCA under the biofeedback method, which means they may be partially reimbursed by your Swiss supplementary (complémentaire) insurance — not by basic insurance (LAMal). Coverage varies by plan; we can review your specific situation during a session, or you can check with your insurer directly. RME recognition is also expected in the coming months, which extends reimbursement options to additional plans.

Can I book a free consultation first?

Yes. The 45-minute discovery consultation is free and lets you visit the practice, experience a short photobiomodulation session, and discuss whether this approach fits your situation. There is no commitment to continue afterwards.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the situation. Most people work with neurofeedback over 10–20 sessions to see consolidated change. After the initial qEEG consultation, I can give you a more specific estimate based on your particular case. Some applications, especially biofeedback for stress regulation, can show benefits more quickly.

How long until I see results?

Some people notice changes even after the first session — often improvements in sleep, calm, or focus. Substantial and consolidated change usually takes 10 or more sessions. The qEEG-based approach helps identify the right protocol from the start, which can shorten the path to noticeable results.

What's the difference between neurofeedback and biofeedback?

Neurofeedback measures brain activity (EEG) and uses it to train brain regulation. Biofeedback measures body signals — breathing, heart rate, temperature, skin conductance — and trains regulation through those. Both are non-invasive and use your own physiology. Many cases benefit from a combination.

Is this safe? Are there side effects?

Neurofeedback and biofeedback are non-invasive and well-tolerated. No medication or stimulation is involved — you are observing and training your own physiology. Mild, transient effects (such as fatigue or vivid dreams) can occur as the brain adjusts; the training is monitored and adjusted based on how you respond.

How is this different from traditional therapy or medication?

Neurofeedback and biofeedback target the underlying physiology — brain rhythms, autonomic regulation — rather than working primarily through conversation or pharmacology. They can be used on their own or alongside psychotherapy or medication. The approach is complementary, not in opposition.

What happens during a qEEG?

The qEEG (quantitative EEG) is a brain map. You wear an EEG cap, and brain activity is recorded for about 20 minutes — eyes open and eyes closed. The recording is then analyzed and compared to a reference database to identify patterns. The full initial qEEG session, including the clinical interview and discussion of findings, takes 2 hours.

Do you work with children and adolescents?

Yes, particularly in attention, developmental, and emotional regulation contexts. The qEEG-based approach allows protocols to be tailored to a child's specific brain patterns rather than applied as generic templates.

What languages can I have my session in?

Sessions are conducted primarily in English. French and Greek are also available. For other languages, please reach out and we can discuss.
